FFL 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Rules
Team Composition
- Each team consists of 3 players on the court at a time.
- Teams may have up to 1 substitute.
Game Format
- Games are played on a half-court.
- Each game lasts either 10 minutes (running clock) or until one team reaches 21 points, whichever comes first.
- If the score is tied at the end of regulation, winner will be decided by a foul shot
Each team selects one player to shoot a free throw. If both make or miss, continue alternating until one makes and the other misses.
Scoring
- Field goals made inside the arc are worth 1 point.
- Field goals made beyond the arc are worth 2 points.
- Free throws are worth 1 point each.
Possession and Play
- The game begins with a coin toss; the winner chooses to start with the ball or not.
- After a made basket, the opposing team gains possession and must “check” the ball at the top of the key.
- On defensive rebounds or steals, the ball must be cleared past the three-point line before the offense can attack.
- Substitutions may be made during dead-ball situations.
Fouls and Violations
- Each player is allowed a maximum of 4 personal fouls per game. On the fifth foul, the player is disqualified.
- Team fouls: After the 6th team foul, opponents shoot one free throw on non-shooting fouls.
- No shot clock, but teams must attempt a shot within a reasonable time
- Traveling, double dribble, and other standard basketball violations apply.
Sportsmanship
- Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in warnings, technical fouls, or disqualification.
- All participants are expected to respect referees, opponents, and spectators.
Equipment and Attire
- Teams must wear matching jerseys or shirts with visible numbers.
- Proper basketball shoes are required for safety.
- The official game ball will be provided by the tournament organizers.
Additional Notes
- Referees’ decisions are final.
